Typefully

What it does

Typefully is a workspace for writing, planning and publishing social posts. A creator or team drafts a post, selects connected channels, places it on a calendar or schedules it to publish, then reviews the resulting performance where analytics are supported.

Its important workflow boundary is that a planned post is only a calendar placeholder; it will not go live until someone schedules it. That distinction is useful for teams that want to arrange a content week before committing posts to publication.

Who it is for

A creator publishing regularly on X, LinkedIn or another supported network can keep drafts and a queue together, then adapt the copy for each destination instead of sending identical formatting everywhere.

A small marketing team can plan posts across social sets and collect draft feedback. Team invitations and role-based access are tied to Business or legacy team plans, so check those rights before building a client approval process.

An agency can separate clients by social set, each with its own drafts and schedule. Decide who can publish and who can only comment; a shared draft link is visible to anyone who receives it.

The work it supports

Core capabilities

Write posts in Typefully’s editor and keep them as drafts while refining the message. The optional Writing Assistant can propose rewrites, ideas or platform variations, but the author should edit and approve the final copy.

Group connected channels into a social set for a person, brand or client. Each set carries its own drafts, schedule, analytics and settings, which helps keep different publishing contexts apart.

On a new draft, connected platforms in the social set are enabled by default. Turn off destinations that should not receive it, or stop syncing and adjust each platform’s version before publication.

Current Help names X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Substack Notes for publishing. The marketing pages name fewer channels, so verify the exact destination, format and entitlement needed rather than treating one platform list as universal.

Platform-specific formats matter. For example, X Articles require an eligible X Premium subscription and cannot be cross-posted; media formats and file limits also vary by network and plan.

Save a draft as planned to give it a place on the calendar without publishing it. A planned post remains unpublished even when its displayed time passes, so someone must explicitly schedule it when ready.

Confirm a time to schedule a post for automatic publication. Check the post’s status in the queue and calendar: a scheduled item and a planned item can appear near each other, but only the scheduled one is set to publish.

The Plan calendar shows planned, scheduled and published work across accessible social sets, with account and status filters. Queue slots and a suggested time offer other ways to choose a publishing time.

Move a scheduled post to a different time if the plan changes. Dragging a planned item keeps it planned, so recheck status after reorganizing the calendar.

Share a draft link for comments. Anyone with the link can view the draft and its comments, while commenters need a free Typefully account; decide whether the draft is appropriate to share outside the team first.

On a Business team, invited collaborators can be given read-only, writing, writing-and-publishing or admin access. Grant publishing rights only to the people expected to commit posts to connected accounts.

Typefully markets analytics for post performance, but its social-set Help page currently says per-set post and follower analytics support X only. Confirm the measurements needed for every other channel before buying for cross-network reporting.

Pricing and getting started

Typefully advertises a free plan, and draft links can be shared for free comments. Its captured pricing page did not expose reliable current numeric prices or quotas, so confirm those details in the live pricing interface before choosing a plan.

Inviting collaborators to shared social sets requires Business or a legacy Team/Agency plan according to current Help. Ask about current users, sets, roles and billing if several brands or clients will be managed.

The Writing Assistant has limited Free use and higher paid limits. Optional metered extra AI usage can be enabled in billing settings, so check usage controls and caps before relying on it for a larger content operation.

Typefully’s terms say paid subscriptions can be cancelled in account settings or through support, generally at the end of the current billing period. Review the account’s current renewal and refund terms before upgrading.

Look a little closer

Before you choose

Build a fictional no-send content week first: draft a post, plan it, verify it does not publish, then move or unschedule a separate sample and inspect its status. This tests the exact planned-versus-scheduled handoff without touching a real audience.

For each intended network, check supported post types, media limits, connected-account access and the final preview. X Articles and Substack Notes are not interchangeable with ordinary cross-posted text.

If multiple people write or approve posts, set social-set ownership and role permissions, and treat shared draft links as potentially visible beyond the team. Confirm who makes the final schedule decision.

Price the actual use case: free versus paid publishing rights, Business collaboration, AI usage and any optional extra usage. Confirm paid amounts and quotas directly because they were not visible in the retained static pricing capture.
