Sufio

What it does

Sufio connects an online store's orders to invoice documents. Shopify and BigCommerce merchants can generate invoices from orders, then choose how documents are sent or retrieved. Its Shopify path also offers settings for handling later refunds and edits with additional documents. Buyers should choose the platform path first, then inspect document rights, local invoicing requirements and the selected plan.

Find your fit

Who it is for

The clearest fit is a Shopify or BigCommerce merchant who needs invoices alongside order records. A seller with B2B terms, refunds or frequent order edits should pay particular attention to document timing, credit-note workflow and the customer delivery method.

This is a store-linked invoicing decision. Before adopting it, map the store's order states, tax configuration, customer locations and accounting handoff. If several Shopify stores are involved, budget for the documented one-store-per-plan model.

The work it supports

Core capabilities

On Shopify, invoices are created for new orders by default. The merchant can narrow creation to chosen order types, change when generation happens, or create an invoice manually. Test one ordinary sale and one B2B or unpaid order to catch an unsuitable default before enabling customer messages.

On BigCommerce, Sufio also generates invoices from orders. Delivery is a separate choice: automatic emailing is off by default and can be tied to order creation, payment, fulfillment, unpaid or wholesale status. A merchant can instead inspect and send each invoice manually.

For Shopify order changes, the one-invoice setting can update a document after an order edit, while the multiple-document setting can create further invoices or credit notes. Choose the method with an accountant, especially where issued invoices should stay unchanged; a changed invoice may need to be resent.

Shopify's automated refund and return credit notes require the multiple-document mode. Incremental notes supplement the original; cancellation notes reverse it and produce a new invoice. Check the Professional-or-higher plan right and test a controlled refund sequence before depending on automation.

BigCommerce has a different boundary: its pro forma invoices, credit notes and delivery notes are described as manual documents. A store that has many returns should include the manual credit-note workload in its evaluation.

The Shopify path offers customer-account downloads, invoice links in order communications and Shopify POS printing. Try the exact customer journey and document design the business will use. Six starting templates are advertised, but customization rights should be checked in the plan comparison.

Shopify document data can be exported to CSV for accounting or migration, including invoice and credit-note data. A bulk export is queued, and files remain on the Downloads page for 30 days. Validate column coverage with a small sample and retain a separate copy for long-term records.

Pricing and getting started

Sufio lists separate Shopify and BigCommerce pricing. At the current display, Shopify Starter is $7 per month while BigCommerce Starter is $9 per month. The Shopify ladder continues through Growth, Professional, Premium and Sufio Plus; a 14-day trial is advertised on both pricing pages. Confirm platform and checkout before quoting a rate to a client.

Shopify's published invoice allowances are 15 monthly on Starter, 50 on Growth, 5,000 on Professional and unlimited on Premium/Plus. They reset on the first of the month. Over-limit invoices are created but locked until upgrade. Delivery notes begin at Growth, credit notes at Professional and quotes at Premium/Plus in the Shopify guide; check the current BigCommerce matrix separately.

The Shopify subscription is billed in USD through Shopify app billing, monthly, with local tax or conversion potentially shown on the Shopify bill. Network e-invoice submission has a separate displayed $0.05-per-document charge and plan-based cap. Check whether the intended country/network is supported and distinguish that submission fee from ordinary PDF invoicing.

Look a little closer

Before you choose

For a controlled pilot, connect the intended store, create a sample order, inspect its invoice and tax fields, then test one edit or refund using the selected document mode. Send only to a controlled address while checking triggers, attachment, invoice link and customer access. Confirm each action with the accounting owner before live use.

Before paying, match monthly invoice volume, platform, store count, needed document types, delivery settings, export fields, language and local tax/e-invoicing rules to the actual plan. Keep an export sample and verify how locked invoices, refunds and documents already issued would be handled if the store later changes plans or leaves Sufio.
