Who it is for

Its job-costing tools cover work ranging from service and maintenance visits to construction projects. A useful evaluation follows a real job from the incoming customer call through the recorded costs and eventual payment.

The work it supports

Core capabilities

Support appointment booking with customer information that appears as calls arrive. This gives a customer service representative context during intake; it does not by itself establish that calls are answered or booked autonomously.

Review a job-cost breakdown covering materials, equipment, purchase orders, commissions and labor burden. The view helps examine job economics, with the accuracy of the result depending on the transactions and costs recorded.

Collect digital payments in the field, office or online. Check the payment processor and regional availability for the methods you need, as some features are not available to every ServiceTitan customer.

For a phone booking, the office user searches for or creates the customer, selects the service location, job type, business unit and campaign, then sets an appointment window before booking. Walk a fictional request through those fields to check that the team records the correct location and work classification at intake.

The Daily Dispatch Board gives an office dispatcher an Unassigned tray for technician assignment. Dispatch sends job details and the address to the technician's mobile device; the dispatcher can reschedule an appointment and confirm a new arrival window. Demonstrate those three actions with a fictional day's work to see how a staffing change is handled.

Office staff can make a form required for selected jobs, blocking Field Mobile completion until the technician submits it. For a job with more than one technician or appointment, the technician should mark their own work or appointment Done while others remain; completing the whole job early cancels the remaining appointments. Rehearse the closeout with fictional forms, equipment details, signatures and payment before rollout.

After a customer accepts an estimate, booking from that estimate record carries its line items, pricing and customer details into the new job; creating an unrelated job loses the estimate link. In Field Mobile, Perform work now puts the accepted items on the current invoice, while Perform work later leaves them off for an office-scheduled job. Trace both paths in a fictional sale to check the estimate-to-invoice handoff.

Pricing and getting started

ServiceTitan describes its pricing as per technician. Starter directs buyers to request pricing. Obtain a proposal for your staffing, workflow and chosen package before comparing total cost.

The Starter package list includes dispatching, scheduling and call booking. A separate Pro products page describes Scheduling Pro for customer online booking and Dispatch Pro for smarter job assignments. If those automated flows matter, have the proposal name the exact modules, configuration and entitlements shown in the demo rather than inferring them from the Starter feature names.

Look a little closer

Before you choose

Treat processing charges separately from the software subscription. ServiceTitan says fees vary with payment method, transaction type and the specific agreement. Tap to Pay and Pay by Bank are currently US-only and also depend on processor availability.

Review the agreement’s term before committing. Its early-termination provision can require the remaining payments, subject to stated exceptions that include an uncured material breach after notice. The applicable agreement and its exceptions determine the actual obligation.

Ask to see ServiceTitan's on-my-way flow using a fictional job and consented test contact. Dispatch texts and emails need their channel settings enabled, and texts need an outbound default SMS number plus an opted-in mobile number. Arrival tracking needs its setting enabled, native GPS on the technician's device and the Tech Tracking URL in the notification template. The customer's service address must be verified to show a map, distance and ETA; otherwise the tracking page shows only the technician name and destination address. For jobs with multiple technicians, test the limit-dispatch-notifications option and any business-unit or job-type exclusions. Confirm that the required messaging channel is included in the proposed package.

Test Job Costing on a fictional multi-visit job. ServiceTitan calculates costs from the selected invoice or project, but cannot split a shared job invoice by appointment. Check that the reviewer has access: accountants and administrators get the tool by default, while other office staff need View Job Costing permission. Confirm whether labor and performance pay are configured, whether payroll has been removed from technician burden rates when those costs are included, and whether the invoice is posted before expecting performance pay in the view.

Before relying on a customer's estimate signature for changed work, test a pre-invoice revision with fictional details. ServiceTitan says adding a task to a signed estimate makes the signature disappear by design; after the edit, the customer should review and sign the updated estimate again before work proceeds. Its Mobile workflow says a signature cannot be removed once the estimate items have been invoiced, so confirm a separate correction path for that stage rather than assuming the same edit flow.

If memberships are part of your ServiceTitan rollout, compare Cancel with Delete using a fictional member before changing a real record. The current Help guide says cancellation stops discounts and recurring service on the selected date and cancels later events, but keeps the membership for possible reactivation; booked-job and follow-up events remain visible under its stated conditions. Deletion cannot be undone and removes the membership from historic reporting, so reserve it for a mistaken sale. Have the billing owner review any refund and check who has Edit Customer Membership permission: removing it prevents deletion but also prevents edits to active memberships.

For low-signal work, test ServiceTitan's Field Mobile App with a fictional job before rollout. Its Help says job status, time entries, notes, signatures and photos save locally offline and sync when the device reconnects. Open the job online before travel to cache equipment history and project details; otherwise some history may need a connection to load. Purchase orders, inventory availability and customer financing also need a connection. Confirm your technicians’ app version and permissions, then compare the sample job with the office record after reconnection.

Before relying on ServiceTitan Job Costing after a time correction, follow a fictional technician entry through timesheet review, an edit in ServiceTitan, approval and payroll export. Its current Help says a locked pay period must be unlocked before a timesheet edit, and changing hours only in an external payroll system leaves ServiceTitan Job Costing with misleading profitability. Check whether the account uses Legacy or Flexible Timekeeping, then compare corrected hours, the payroll summary and the job-cost view before a real payroll run.

Before batching a fictional completed job, have an authorized invoice reviewer check the pricebook items, materials, tax and any processed payment. An invoice without a pricebook task, equipment or chargeable material will not export, even when the job should cost $0; a $0 Pricebook item can satisfy that check. Missing materials also distort job-cost and inventory reporting, and an exported invoice cannot be edited in the same review flow.

For a ServiceTitan-to-QuickBooks Online handoff, do not treat an Exported batch as proof that every invoice arrived. ServiceTitan Help says individual items can remain Pending after a partial export or sync issue, and bypassed transactions can show Exported in ServiceTitan without appearing in QuickBooks Online. Have the accounting owner review a fictional batch and each invoice status, search QuickBooks Online by invoice number, and use the Pending Export Report for Posted or Pending items. If ServiceTitan marks an invoice Exported but QuickBooks Online cannot find it, contact ServiceTitan support before deciding on a corrective export.
