Sendlane

What it does

Sendlane is an ecommerce-oriented email marketing platform that also offers SMS, forms and reviews. A retailer can connect store data, group contacts into segments, send a one-time email campaign to a chosen audience, and build a separate automation that responds to a signup or order event. The email workflow is the focus of this profile.

Who it is for

For a marketing team sending a promotion or newsletter, the path is to create a sender profile, choose the receiving list, segment or tag, build the message, and send immediately or schedule it. The campaign is a one-time broadcast; the exclusion audience overrides the receiving audience.

For ongoing customer journeys, an automation can start from a contact behavior, event or time and schedule messages, waits or conditional paths. Sendlane documents welcome and order examples. Test the trigger and path before activation: after a contact enters, the scheduled path is fixed, although email or SMS message content can still change.

Segmentation is useful when the contact data is present. Segments update against criteria, and a segment selected for a campaign is reprocessed just before sending. Store integration can feed purchase data; tracking-based rules need their tracking setup and underlying events.

Pricing and getting started

The pricing FAQ checked October 15, 2026 advertises a 60-day trial capped at 100 contacts and 500 email sends. It says SMS is included only with paid accounts, so the trial should be evaluated as an email trial. A time-limited trial is not a continuing free plan.

The pricing page emphasizes paying for sends rather than stored profiles, and the site directs buyers to a tailored pricing discussion. Its support-tier table also mentions contact bands, making a single fixed paid email price unclear from the public page. Confirm expected send volume, actual quote, billing term, SMS charges and onboarding terms with Sendlane before committing.

Look a little closer

Before you choose

A new imported list may undergo a compliance review, and Sendlane says the first three to five campaign sends to a new audience need manual approval. Allow for this when planning a launch date, even if a campaign can be scheduled during review.

Verify store connection, source data, consent and the specific automation trigger with your own account. If purchase or browsing data is absent, a segment or order-based path will not behave as a storefront team expects.

Research scope: official public pages checked October 15, 2026. No account, store connection, list import, campaign send, automation activation, SMS setup, deliverability outcome, trial signup or checkout was tested.
