Find your fit
Who it is for
It is aimed at freelancers, startups and growing businesses that handle their own invoicing and bookkeeping. Start with the volume of bank transactions and the number of people who need access; those allowances distinguish its paid tiers more than the list of basic accounting features.
Businesses relying on local VAT filing, bank connections or payment collection should test those specific paths for their country. The English product pages describe VAT and European bank workflows, but a public page alone does not establish eligibility in every jurisdiction.
The work it supports
Core capabilities
A sales process can begin with a branded quote. A customer can sign online, and the accepted work can be converted into an invoice. Automatic reminders are available for unpaid invoices, providing a path from proposal through collection.
An accepted quote cannot simply be edited. Moneybird says to duplicate it into a draft, make changes and resend it for approval. A deleted invoice cannot be recovered through Moneybird, so check the document and use the intended correction process before deleting anything.
For costs, send supplier invoices and receipts from the mobile app, a unique email address or a direct upload. Scan and recognise processing helps enter the document, and forwarded UBL invoices can be read. The owner still needs to check the extracted details and account category.
Moneybird describes purchase-invoice payment by QR code, bank connection or payment batch. Check that the business bank and local payment route are supported before treating this as a complete payables workflow.
Assign general-ledger categories to sales and purchase invoice lines, then use the income statement, balance sheet, cash-flow, VAT, debtor and creditor reports to inspect the result. This is the link between everyday documents and the accounts a business or accountant reviews.
A business moving from another system can import old data or enter a starting balance. Moneybird also documents API data exchange, while most marketplace integrations are built by partners; confirm what a specific integration transfers and who supports it.
Where the tax jurisdiction is supported, a user can select a VAT period, review the prepared overview and submit the return. Supplementary corrections and ICP returns are advertised. Confirm local filing eligibility and settings with an accountant before relying on direct submission.
For collections, invoices can include online payment links. The app also offers payment requests that create an invoice in the background. Available methods, activation rights and transaction charges should be checked for the buyer’s location.

Pricing and getting started
Moneybird lists Compact, Start, Growth and Complete subscriptions with a choice of monthly or annual billing. Its 60-day trial provides Complete access, which may include capabilities the selected paid tier will not retain. Decide on the intended tier before testing critical workflows.
Start lists 20 processed bank transactions and one user with manual bank import. Growth lists 50 transactions, five users and five linked bank accounts. Complete lists unlimited transactions, users and linked accounts. Compact is the smallest tier, with five processed bank transactions and tighter sales-invoice limits.
A processed bank transaction counts when it is linked to an invoice, purchase document or category within a subscription month. Unused allowance expires at month end, so estimate actual payments and expenses rather than simply counting invoices.
The pricing page also lists separate online-payment and external bank-connection fees and describes bank connections to European banks. Confirm the exact bank, payment methods, transaction costs, VAT and subscription total for the business before buying.
The FAQ says paid subscriptions are charged by monthly direct debit or credit card, quoted prices exclude VAT, and the subscription can be cancelled without notice. The current page contains inconsistent price references between its grid and FAQ, so use a current checkout quote for exact figures.
Look a little closer
Before you choose
Try a complete sample cycle: quote, approval, invoice, payment, supplier receipt, ledger category and report. Confirm the exported or shared records satisfy the accountant’s process before migrating a full year of bookkeeping.
During the trial, select the likely paid tier and check its bank-transaction allowance, number of users, bank links and invoice limits. The trial has Complete rights, so trial success by itself does not prove the lower tier will cover the same workload.
Verify country-specific VAT filing, bank support and online-payment methods before using them for real records. Also confirm the applicable fees and current checkout price; the official pricing page presents conflicting price references.
Establish a correction routine for accepted quotes and invoices. Accepted quotes need a duplicated draft for revision, while deleted invoices are permanent in Moneybird.
