Find your fit
Who it is for
The hosted edition fits a creator or business that wants email campaigns without operating its own marketing application. A team that already uses a delivery provider can connect it, but should include that provider’s costs and setup in its evaluation.
A Laravel team that wants to run the marketing system itself can consider Self-Hosted. That route puts application hosting and delivery-provider configuration on the buyer, while keeping campaigns, automations and transactional email available.
The work it supports
Core capabilities
Create an audience list and add subscribers manually, through a form or API, or by CSV import. New lists use double opt-in by default for signups, and campaigns go to confirmed subscribers. Review list status and consent before importing real addresses.
Use tags and condition-based segments to select part of a list for a campaign or automation. For a sample send, compare the eligible count with the expected audience so a condition does not silently include or exclude the wrong people.
Build a campaign from a template, a duplicate or a blank message. Mailcoach offers Markdown, HTML and visual editing; a test list lets a team check formatting and links before any real audience receives the message.
The pre-send screen summarizes recipient count, subject and content issues, and allows a test message. A campaign can send now or later, and a scheduled campaign can be changed before sending starts. Treat the final checklist as a human review step.
After a send, Mailcoach reports opens, clicks, unsubscribes and bounces, with an outbox for delivery problems. Tracking can be turned off; decide what measurement is appropriate before mailing real subscribers.
Automations use triggers, conditions and actions for sequences such as onboarding or drip campaigns. Test a fictional subscriber through each branch and delay before activating a live flow.
For application messages, Mailcoach also offers a transactional-email API. Keep password resets, receipts or other operational messages separate from newsletter campaigns, and test their templates without delivering to customers.
Choose Mailcoach delivery or configure an external provider for the hosted service. Self-Hosted additionally requires a separately operated application and email provider; confirm which system owns sender authentication, bounces and delivery support.

Pricing and getting started
The hosted pricing page advertises €9.99 per month including 2,000 emails, then monthly usage charges for additional sends, excluding VAT. The site’s calculator leaves some extra-email figures dynamic, so confirm the selected monthly volume and total rather than relying on a single starting price.
The hosted trial is advertised as 14 days without a card. Annual prepayment is not offered according to the pricing FAQ. A separate sending provider changes Mailcoach’s per-email charge and can add the provider’s own bill; choose one delivery arrangement for the estimate.
Self-Hosted is a separate license for one domain or unlimited domains. It includes one year of updates without a required renewal, but the buyer provides hosting and an email delivery provider. Confirm the current license price and permitted deployment scope with Spatie before choosing it.

Before you choose
Before a real import, inspect the CSV and consent record. Mailcoach says previously unsubscribed addresses remain unsubscribed, but other imported addresses are marked confirmed without a new confirmation email even if double opt-in is enabled. A test list is safer for learning the flow.
Run a fictional campaign end to end: list, segment, template, test email, checklist and scheduled send. Check the eligible count, sender details and links before allowing a real audience to receive it.
Test automation branches with fictional subscribers and inspect campaign statistics for bounces or unsubscribes. Open and click tracking is optional, so agree on reporting settings before comparing campaign results.
Price the actual hosted send volume and delivery-provider choice, including VAT and any separate provider bill. For Self-Hosted, budget for the license, application operations and provider setup, and verify the one-domain versus unlimited-domain right.
