lemlist

What it does

lemlist organizes B2B sales outreach into campaigns: assemble a sequence, add a lead list, connect sending accounts, preview timing and launch. Email is central; LinkedIn and call steps are available only with the relevant multichannel rights.

A buyer should think of this as prospecting infrastructure, not a newsletter editor. The useful questions are whether the team has lawful, relevant contacts, can connect its inboxes and domains, and needs email only or a coordinated sequence across channels.

Who it is for

A small outbound team with an existing contact list can import a CSV, map personalization fields and test a short email sequence. Check duplicate handling and suppression before any send so an old or opted-out record is not treated as a fresh prospect.

A sales team already working from a CRM can bring leads into a campaign, assign senders, and preview each lead’s path. The value is in controlled follow-up and reply handling, so confirm the desired stop or pause behavior before launch.

A team that wants LinkedIn touches or calling alongside email should compare Multichannel rights, per-user cost, sender limits and optional add-ons. Do not assume an Email-plan purchase includes every step visible in a demo.

The work it supports

Core capabilities

The campaign builder separates the sequence, lead list and launch review. Email, social, call, task and delay steps can be arranged into a path, but the picker can hide or disable steps outside the subscribed plan.

CSV import maps columns such as email and name to campaign variables and offers duplicate controls. Preview mapping with a small, authorized set first; a mistaken address or variable can make personalization wrong across the entire list.

Sending uses a connected Gmail, Outlook or supported IMAP/SMTP mailbox. Account permissions and SPF, DKIM and related DNS records need attention before a realistic trial; the setup guide does not promise that every message will reach an inbox.

Sending schedules define eligible days and hours. Sequence delays count sending days, so a Friday step followed by a one-day delay may not send the next message until Monday in a weekday-only campaign.

Behavior-based branches can choose a different follow-up path. A manual call or note task pauses the affected prospect until the worker marks it done, which means the human task queue matters to campaign timing.

Before launch, the operator can preview how the sequence will run for each lead, confirm sending settings and override a step for a specific person. After launch, step edits have limits, so test the path before adding a large list.

Reply and click automations can continue, pause or end a lead’s sequence according to settings. Review these controls and the actual reply inbox; a generic claim that every reply always stops follow-up would overstate the behavior.

Unsubscribe links place a clicked lead on the suppression list and stop current and other campaigns for that lead. Campaign reporting can show opens, clicks and replies, but those signals do not establish a meeting or sale.

Pricing and getting started

The current pricing grid separates an Email offer, a per-user Multichannel offer and custom Enterprise terms. The Help guide calls the middle tier Multichannel Expert and notes legacy Email Pro accounts, so use the offer shown to the actual account.

Email pricing scales with a team-wide monthly send allowance rather than seat count; the public grid shows a 50,000-email tier and different monthly, quarterly and annual prices. Count all relevant sends and compare the term before using the starting price as a budget.

Multichannel adds LinkedIn and calling rights. Lead enrichment and other credit-metered actions may add cost, the Email plan has no included monthly free credits in the current Help guide, and WhatsApp is described as a paid add-on.

The Help guide says a 14-day Multichannel trial, while the captured pricing page displayed a 30-day promotional banner. Confirm the trial shown in the actual signup path and what it converts to. Cancelling renewal does not by itself cancel a credit add-on.

Look a little closer

Before you choose

Before adopting lemlist, define a legitimate prospect source, exclusions and opt-out process. Import a small CSV, inspect mappings and duplicates, and confirm suppression before enabling sends; the software cannot establish permission to contact someone for you.

Connect one supported sender, verify its provider permissions and authentication records, and preview a test sequence with the intended schedule. Document who owns the inbox and who will handle replies and manual tasks.

Compare email-only versus multichannel rights using the exact steps the team plans to run. Model send volume, per-user charges, credits and add-ons separately, especially if the team wants lead finding or enrichment.

Confirm current trial length, selected billing term, upgrade and cancellation rules before purchase. In a controlled test, inspect how replies, clicks and opt-outs change each lead’s path rather than relying on the default settings.
