Find your fit
Who it is for
It suits retailers selling in a physical store and those adding online sales or more outlets. A single-location shop can assess Essential; stores needing outlet transfers, ecommerce integrations, loyalty or advanced reports should compare Plus and Enterprise. The number of checkout devices matters separately from the number of staff.
The work it supports
Core capabilities
At the counter, staff can search by name or category or scan a barcode. The checkout supports split and mixed payments, with returns, exchanges and store credits tied to prior transactions. Try a discounted sale, split tender and partial return using the real payment devices and staff permissions before rollout.
Variants and SKUs help track sizes or styles rather than treating a product family as one count. Hike provides full or partial stock counts and a purchase-order receiving flow. During migration, import a small set of variants, receive a short delivery and reconcile the resulting quantities with a physical count.
For more than one outlet, Hike describes stock transfers and central visibility of store-level inventory. The current plan comparison puts multi-outlet controls in Plus and Enterprise. Pilot one transfer from creation through receipt so staff can see what is in transit and what is available to sell.
Hike describes a shared catalogue and stock/order synchronization between in-store and online selling. Its Shopify connector can bring an existing online catalogue into the POS. Compare SKU identifiers, tax and discount rules, order ownership and stock delay on a few test orders; these integrations are listed above Essential.
The mobile POS page says sales can continue during an internet outage and sync when connectivity returns. Test the exact iPad or Android register, payment method and receipt flow offline; cloud stock visibility and online payment authorization may behave differently until reconnection.
Retail reports cover sales and product/channel views. Customer profiles can support repeat transactions, while loyalty, groups and advanced analytics depend on Plus or Enterprise. Check who may view customer data and which reports a store manager can export.

Pricing and getting started
The US pricing page shows Essential at USD $59 per month when billed annually or $69 billed monthly, and Plus at USD $99 or $119 respectively; Enterprise is quoted. These are the page's displayed starting configurations, not a total store estimate. Choose region, outlets and registers in the current selector, then check term and taxes before budgeting.
Hike advertises a 14-day trial with no card details at sign-up. Point-of-sale hardware is presented separately as a one-off purchase, and its displayed amounts on the US page are in AUD. Some Plus/Enterprise functions, including accounting integrations, are marked as add-ons, so request an itemized software, hardware, payment and connector quote.
Look a little closer
Before you choose
A useful pilot is one real product family with variants: import it, scan a sale, split a payment, process a return, receive a purchase order and complete a stock count. If there are two stores, transfer stock between them; if online selling matters, place a test order and inspect both quantities. Reconcile every step before moving live data.
Decide which outlet, register, online channel, reporting and customer functions are required before choosing Essential or Plus. Confirm hardware compatibility, supported payment providers and regional fees. The plan matrix presents built-in ecommerce and an Online Store add-on, and shows serial tracking both in inventory and add-ons, so obtain written clarification for either feature if needed.
