GlossGenius

What it does

GlossGenius combines client booking, appointment calendars and checkout for beauty, wellness and medspa businesses. A client can choose a service on a branded booking site, the business can manage the calendar and client details, and the appointment can reach the connected point of sale.

The product extends beyond a calendar, but plan selection matters. Beauty and Wellness tiers differ from Medspa and Aesthetics Practice tiers, and team, resource, waitlist, payment and location costs should be checked against the exact business setup.

Who it is for

A solo stylist or wellness provider can publish a service menu, let clients request appointments without a separate app, set approval and cancellation rules, and send confirmations. Test the full booking and rescheduling path with fictional appointments before inviting clients.

A salon with several providers can coordinate staff calendars, client notes, add-on services and checkout. If rooms or equipment are shared, verify that the selected tier includes resource reservations and that calendar sync does not create conflicting availability.

A medspa or aesthetics practice should price its Practice tier separately and check the exact form, staff, location and payment rights needed. The general salon tier grid should not be assumed to cover practice requirements.

The work it supports

Core capabilities

Build a client-facing booking site from templates, then add the service menu, provider profiles and portfolio images. Clients can reach booking without installing an app or signing in; review the service descriptions and availability they actually see.

Control whether appointments are accepted automatically or reviewed manually, and set deposit, card-on-file and cancellation policies for the selected service. Walk through a fictional cancellation to understand the client message and charge rules before turning on real payments.

Use the calendar to create or edit appointments from the front desk or a mobile device. Work hours, vacation and personal blocks can be synchronized with supported external calendars; verify the conflict direction rather than assuming every external event blocks booking.

For services that need a room or piece of equipment, Resource Management can reserve that asset with the appointment. Compare the resulting calendar against provider availability during a multi-service test; the feature is associated with higher salon tiers.

Keep visit history, service notes and preferences visible next to the appointment. Automated confirmations and reminders then help the client track changes, while staff should check that message timing and consent suit the business.

Offer an extra service or longer session during booking or add it at checkout; the calendar updates to reflect the change. A Gold or Platinum waitlist can alert clients to a matching opening after a cancellation, subject to the configured availability and notification rules.

The scheduled appointment can pass to the connected point of sale, where the business completes checkout with supported card or contactless methods. Reconcile a safe sample across the appointment, client record and sales report before using it for real transactions.

Pricing and getting started

Beauty and Wellness Standard includes the booking website, client notifications, email/text marketing and inventory tools. Gold adds forms, Google booking/reviews, waitlist, time tracking and room/resource management; Platinum adds broader team analytics and commission controls. Medspa and Aesthetics instead has Practice Essentials and Practice Advanced choices.

The pricing selector displays starting annual-billed monthly equivalents of $24 for Standard, $48 for Gold and $148 for Platinum, with higher month-to-month choices. These are displayed amounts rather than a universal quote: confirm currency, market, term, staff count, tax and the selected practice type.

Gold is positioned for businesses up to nine staff, while Platinum is positioned for teams of ten or more. An additional location is charged a separate plan price at a stated 15% discount, so price each branch rather than assuming one subscription covers them all.

Reception by GlossGenius is separately priced for call/text handling and calendar booking. Card processing and online invoicing have their own charges; the captured card-present rate field is unresolved, so request the current transaction table for in-person, online, card-on-file and invoice payments.

The current FAQ advertises a 14-day trial without a credit card. Use that period to test a realistic service menu and staff calendar, then confirm how billing begins and what data can be exported if the business does not continue.

Look a little closer

Before you choose

Before launch, map services, durations, provider hours, rooms, deposits and cancellation terms to the actual booking rules. Test a fictional new booking, reschedule, waitlist opening and checkout, including the messages each step sends.

Calculate total cost from the selected Beauty and Wellness or Practice tier, billing term, staff, locations, Reception if needed, processing by transaction type and any hardware. The unresolved card-present template is a reason to verify written fees, not a rate to copy.

If moving from another system, check client records, appointment history, service notes and calendar blocks with a small safe sample. Staff should see enough context to serve a returning client without exposing more personal information than their role requires.
