Find your fit
Who it is for
A growing merchant replacing spreadsheets can use SKU tracking, barcode scanning and reorder points to see what is on hand and what needs replenishment. Start with a representative SKU, a receipt and a low-stock threshold to see whether the day-to-day count matches reality.
A seller with several channels or warehouses may need Growth for fulfillment, automated reordering and multichannel selling. Map each source of stock and orders before buying, because those operational tools are not all in Essentials.
A business that must trace lots or document regulated inventory can evaluate Scale's traceability and governance features. Test a sample lot from receipt through shipment and return; the advertised compliance-document feature is not itself proof of compliance.
A manufacturer needing bills of materials, work orders or MRP should evaluate Fishbowl Advanced Manufacturing as a separate quoted platform, not assume an Inventory tier will gain production planning after an upgrade.
The work it supports
Core capabilities
Stock control. The Essentials card includes real-time SKU tracking, reorder points and mobile barcode scanning. Define units, locations and reorder thresholds for a small SKU sample, then compare the system balance with a physical count.
Locations and replenishment. The product describes visibility across warehouses and reorder workflows; Growth explicitly lists automated reordering and unlimited warehouses. Check how transfers and sublocations affect available-to-pick quantity in the intended plan.
Warehouse execution. The product page describes barcode-assisted receiving, picking, packing and cycle counts; the Growth card specifically lists pick, receive, ship and fulfillment. Rehearse a short receipt-to-shipment path on the target tier and devices.
Orders and returns. Fishbowl describes sales orders, shipments and returns synchronized with stock levels. Check when reservations, cancellations and returned goods change available quantity, especially when multiple sales channels feed the same SKUs.
Accounting. Essentials lists QuickBooks Online and Xero sync. Confirm supported accounting edition, direction and timing of the actual transactions, plus how inventory value and cost of goods sold reconcile after a test receipt and sale.
Configuration and reports. Custom fields, workflows and reporting are described on the Inventory product page, while Scale explicitly adds advanced reporting and governance. Ask to see the exact report and permissions the team needs in its chosen tier.
Forecasting and traceability. Growth shows forecasting as an add-on; Scale includes forecasting and lists lot traceability. Keep those subscriptions and the underlying source data in the evaluation, rather than treating the broad AI language on the overview as a base-plan entitlement.

Pricing and getting started
The viewed US page lists Essentials at $229 USD/month with two users, Growth at $429 with five, and Scale at $729 with ten; all three figures are billed annually. Confirm current quote, taxes, additional users and commitment before signing.
Growth is the first card that explicitly adds fulfillment, automated reordering and multichannel ecommerce; its demand forecasting is an add-on. Scale includes forecasting and adds lot traceability, audit trails and advanced permissions. Some entries in the page's comparison matrix carry future-state labels, so verify live availability of a must-have function.
Fishbowl says an implementation package is required with a purchase. The pricing page describes data migration without history, training and go-live support but does not give a package price. Request an itemized total and a written list of what historical data will be migrated.
Manufacturing workflows and the Advanced Warehouse platform have separate quoted pricing. A buyer with BOM, MRP, complex 3PL or EDI needs should compare that platform and its deployment scope separately from the cloud Inventory subscriptions.
Look a little closer
Before you choose
Bring a small real-world test case to a demo: receive a purchase order, scan stock into the right location, trigger a reorder threshold, fulfill one order, process a return and reconcile the resulting accounting entries. Ask which steps are available on the proposed tier and what an exception looks like.
If lot traceability, forecasting or compliance records drive the purchase, test those on the actual quoted plan. Confirm how old history, open transactions and item identifiers move during implementation, since the public migration description explicitly excludes history.
This profile is based on Fishbowl's current public Inventory and pricing pages. No live account, barcode device, accounting connection, migration, forecast, order or payment was tested.
