EmailOctopus

What it does

Who it is for

A newsletter creator or small business can collect signups on a form or landing page, prepare a campaign with the drag-and-drop editor, and send to the audience or a segment. Check the signup permission and test a real email before a wider send.

A team with different signup sources can attach tags to forms, capture content preferences with choice fields, and target segments accordingly. Plan the tag names and consent language before import so later campaigns reach the intended subscribers.

The work it supports

Core capabilities

Email campaigns. Create and send a one-off newsletter, announcement or promotion. The editor offers templates and drag-and-drop editing; schedule and preview the actual message for your audience before sending.

Automations. An active workflow can respond to a contact trigger, send an email, wait and branch on conditions. Configure the trigger first and test with a new contact, because the Contact added trigger does not pick up existing subscribers.

Audience segmentation. Create groups within a list based on tags, field values or engagement data, then choose the segment as a campaign audience. Confirm which contacts match the filter before sending.

Pricing and getting started

Free Starter plan. The current pricing page lists up to 2,500 subscribers and 10,000 emails per month. It retains EmailOctopus branding, keeps reports for 30 days, and includes one landing page, one form and one user. These limits matter if several people manage the list or you need longer reporting history.

Paid Pro plan. The page displays $9 USD per month billed yearly for the shown slider position, but the exact subscriber tier is not captured here. Pro lists unbranded email design, reports retained indefinitely and unlimited landing pages, forms and users. Select your list size and send volume on the current pricing page to get the applicable quote.

Trial and larger lists. EmailOctopus says there is no time-limited free trial; Starter is a free plan with no time limit or credit card requirement. Lists above 500,000 subscribers go to a custom quote. The separate EmailOctopus Connect product has Amazon SES pricing, so compare the correct product.

Look a little closer

Before you choose

Subscriber collection. Forms can be placed on a site as embedded forms, pop-ups or slide-ins, while a landing page can be shared separately. Decide where signup occurs and how the form makes consent clear before adding a new audience.

Automation timing. The Contact added trigger applies to newly added contacts, and automations need to be active when the trigger occurs. Existing subscribers may need a different trigger, such as an added tag; test the entry path on a small list.

Workflow depth. Advanced automation documentation describes contact, field, tag and date triggers plus email, wait, condition and contact-action steps. Build one complete sequence and check branch membership rather than assuming every contact follows the same path.

Reporting. EmailOctopus shows opens, link clicks, bounces and unsubscribes, and reports can be downloaded. These are platform activity measures; they do not establish sales results or inbox placement. Starter report access is limited to 30 days.

Scope check. The public pages establish the named features, but a live account, deliverability, data portability and integration behavior were not tested. Check plan-specific availability and run one consented signup-to-report workflow before switching an established mailing list.
