Find your fit
Who it is for
A small business moving away from paper timesheets can let staff clock time on a shared or personal device, then review and export the resulting hours. Project and location options may matter to mobile teams; set them deliberately before staff start recording.
A team that also manages holidays and rotating shifts can consider the vacation planner and shift planner together. Check the exact modules in the quoted tier, since the public English price table spells out time and absence features more clearly than shift-planning rights.
The work it supports
Core capabilities
Employees clock in at the start of work and out at the end from a computer, tablet or phone. A recorded period can carry an optional note or project/customer association, giving managers a route to review hours by work type.
The German feature overview describes an offline mobile mode that synchronizes afterward. Pilot an offline shift and check when the record becomes visible before relying on it in areas with weak connectivity.
Managers can correct and evaluate saved time entries, then export work-hour data. Use a fictional missed punch and compare the export with the corrected record before moving real payroll data.
Location recording is optional at clock-in. Decide whether it is needed for a mobile crew, explain the setting to staff and check the stored record with mock entries before enabling it for real employees.
The vacation planner lets employees request an absence and managers grant or reject it. Its overview shows who is away, remaining vacation days and overlapping requests so staffing decisions can be made with the schedule in view.
The German shift-planning page describes reusable templates and drag-and-drop assignment of available employees. It also says assigned staff can be notified through the app or email. Confirm the selected subscription includes the needed planner rights.
Crewmeister connects shift planning to time tracking for comparing planned and actual hours. Treat a scheduled shift as a plan and inspect the recorded time before using the comparison for pay or staffing decisions.

Pricing and getting started
Go is presented as the time-tracking tier, with mobile app and terminal access, Excel export and project/location tracking. Easy adds vacation, sickness and other absence management plus a simple overtime account. Pro lists deeper project tracking, terminal choices and custom permissions.
The website displays per-user monthly examples in euros, but labels them guidance that can vary and excludes applicable VAT. Select the actual employee count, modules and billing term, then request the current total before purchasing.
A free trial is advertised; the pricing page says in German that it ends automatically after 14 days. Verify eligibility, access at expiry and the current offer before entering company or employee data.
Look a little closer
Before you choose
Use fictional staff to test a clock entry, an offline entry, a corrected missed punch and an Excel export. Check which version appears in the final report before depending on it for payroll preparation.
Run a mock absence request that overlaps a shift and another planned absence. Review approver rights, remaining balance and notification behavior before opening the vacation planner to employees.
The English site explicitly addresses EU visitors. Buyers elsewhere should ask the vendor about availability and support. No software feature by itself establishes compliance with a company’s wage, privacy or employment obligations.
Compare Go, Easy and Pro with the precise shift planner, absence and permissions features you need. The published amount is indicative and excludes VAT, so use a current vendor quote or checkout total for budgeting.
