Chatra

What it does

Chatra puts a chat widget on a website so a visitor can reach the team while someone is online or leave a message when nobody is available. An agent answers from a browser or mobile app, and an offline reply can follow the visitor by email after they leave the site.

Who it is for

It suits a small website team that wants one visible contact point without staffing a live chat desk at every hour. The online versus offline behavior and reply expectations matter more than simply placing a chat button on the page.

A team that already handles inquiries in an email inbox or help desk can route Chatra messages there. Check how that handoff fits existing response ownership and whether the mobile app gives the coverage needed outside desk hours.

The work it supports

Core capabilities

Install Chatra widget code on the site, using its published instructions for common website platforms. For WordPress, a plugin can receive the code from the Chatra dashboard. Check the widget on a test page before adding it across the site.

When agents are online, the widget serves live chat and can notify them in the browser or mobile app. Offline or invisible status changes the visitor experience to messenger mode; when everyone is invisible, the widget also behaves as offline.

In messenger mode, the widget can collect an email address and signal that the response is not immediate. Agents can answer from the browser or app; delivery stays in the widget for a visitor still on the site and moves to email after departure.

Configure targeted invitations for particular pages and visitor behavior, including whether they appear in live or offline mode. Try a restrained trigger on one page and confirm that its timing and wording match the team’s actual availability.

The visitor list shows who is online and allows an agent to start a conversation. Its display capacity is tied to paid agent seats, so a high-traffic site should check the intended plan before relying on this view for outreach.

Scripted bot scenarios can give visitors reply choices and route a choice to a human agent. Test the handoff and offline path with a small, accurate question set before treating the bot as a support answer source.

Pricing and getting started

The published Free plan is $0 for one agent and up to five chats a month. Essential and Pro list unlimited chats in the comparison table; verify which other features each tier includes before choosing solely by the headline price.

Chatra displays Essential at $31 per agent monthly or $25 per agent per month on annual billing. Pro is shown at $41 or $33 per agent per month on the same respective billing choices. These are displayed rates, so confirm the current currency, taxes and seat count at checkout.

The pricing page advertises a 10-day trial of paid tiers without a credit card. Use that window to check the visitor path, staff notifications, offline follow-up and any feature that drives the tier decision.

Look a little closer

Before you choose

Walk through three harmless test inquiries: an online message, an offline message, and a visitor who leaves before an agent replies. Confirm notifications, collected contact details and the resulting delivery route without using real customer information.

Set a realistic coverage schedule and invitation policy. An agent marked invisible does not receive new-chat notifications until invited, and a fully invisible team puts the widget into offline mode; this should match what the site promises visitors.

Chatra says the app will remain supported, but new features are going to Brevo Conversations. The vendor also says conversations and settings cannot currently be transferred directly. Ask about roadmap and export or transition needs before treating Chatra as a long-term expansion path.

If the free tier is the starting point, measure expected chat volume against its five-chat monthly cap and account for every agent seat in the paid rate. Compare the actual required features and current checkout terms before committing to an annual plan.
