Camelo

What it does

Camelo, from Camelo LLC, helps shift-based teams publish work schedules, handle changes and capture actual time worked. A manager can organize upcoming shifts while employees see assignments and clock in or out; reviewed timesheets can then be exported for payroll processing. It is a workforce scheduling and attendance tool rather than a complete payroll system.

Who it is for

A manager scheduling hourly staff across changing days or locations can publish shifts, review availability and offer open shifts when coverage is needed. It suits teams where the schedule changes enough that a shared paper rota or message thread becomes hard to follow.

Employees can see assigned shifts, request time off, pick up open shifts and propose swaps or offers. A requested swap does not release the original worker until approval, so teams should agree on who confirms each change.

The work it supports

Core capabilities

Build and publish a schedule for a shift-based team. Before publishing, use employee availability to spot preferences and then review the final assignments: availability is a preference and the scheduler can still place a shift during an unavailable period.

Publish an open shift for a coverage gap and allow eligible employees to choose it. For an assigned shift, employees may propose a swap or offer; manager approval remains the handoff point for responsibility.

Handle time-off requests in the same scheduling workflow. Treat a request and a preference as different signals when checking conflicts before a new schedule goes out.

The time clock captures when a worker actually starts and ends a shift using a mobile app or kiosk. These clock events populate timesheets; the scheduled start and end times alone are not the recorded work hours.

Camelo describes optional photo, location and Wi-Fi mobile clock methods. Choose a method only after reviewing your staff devices, site connectivity and local privacy expectations; these methods should not be assumed to suit every workplace.

Managers can see attendance signals such as on-time, late or no-show, then review individual timesheets. The review step matters when a worker forgets to clock out or the recorded hours need correction.

Approve or reject timesheets before payroll preparation. Camelo also exports selected timesheets as a CSV file sent by email, which can be processed outside the app.

Team announcements, messages and tasks sit beside scheduling. Use them for work updates and follow-up, while keeping the published schedule as the reference for who is expected to work.

Assign access deliberately: the guide describes Owner, Payroll Admin, Schedule Manager, Employee and Restricted Member roles with different visibility and actions. Check each role with fictional records before loading personnel details.

Pricing and getting started

The public Free plan shows up to ten members, one schedule and 5GB of documents. The page says Free includes many Pro features but separately reserves some advanced permissions, branding and API keys for Pro or above; verify the precise feature grid for your intended setup.

In the displayed monthly view, Pro shows $29 for the first thirty members and $3.50 per extra member per month; Premium shows $99 for the first thirty and $4.50 per extra member. The page also has an annual billing selector, so confirm currency, billing term, tax and the current quote before budgeting.

Premium advertises payroll integration, advanced timesheets, labor forecasting and policy tools. The public page does not establish that a particular payroll provider is supported in every country, so check your provider and location before buying for that capability.

The comparison grid displays an additional per-active-job-site charge on Pro and Premium. Enterprise uses a custom quote and implementation. Model members, schedules and job sites together when comparing plans.

The vendor advertises a fourteen-day all-feature trial without a credit card. Test the actual features and export route you need during the trial, then check what remains on the chosen plan.

Look a little closer

Before you choose

Pilot one fictional weekly schedule with an availability conflict, an open shift and a swap. This reveals who can publish, claim and approve changes before real staff rely on notifications.

Compare the published schedule with a sample clocked timesheet, then approve and export it. This tests the boundary between planned hours and actual hours before the CSV enters payroll.

Choose clock-in methods and permissions with privacy in mind. Photo and location options may need a clear workplace policy, and a Restricted Member should only see their own relevant information.

Confirm current prices, member and job-site charges, the selected billing cycle and your payroll provider’s regional support in writing. The product page alone does not prove a ready-to-use payroll connection for your country.
