BoxHero

What it does

BoxHero is inventory software for recording items and stock movements. A team can maintain item details, record stock coming in or going out, and check quantities across its workspace. The paid Business plan adds multi-location tracking and low-stock alerts; the free Personal plan has narrower limits.

Who it is for

A small operation moving stock between a store, stockroom or warehouse can record changes as they happen and check current quantities. Item records can include SKUs, costs, prices and availability; barcode scanning can speed up an update when items already have usable codes.

A team with more than one storage site should compare the Business plan. BoxHero describes tracking and moving inventory across locations, plus alerts tied to safety stock levels; Personal is limited to one location and omits those advanced functions.

For a sole user with a small catalog, Personal may cover basic stock records. Its 100-item limit counts distinct item types rather than units on shelves, and color or size variants count separately, so count SKUs before selecting the plan.

The work it supports

Core capabilities

Stock transactions. Record inventory entering and leaving, then check the resulting quantities without relying on a separate spreadsheet as the source of truth.

Barcode scanning. Scan an existing barcode to update stock and retrieve or manage the linked item details.

Multiple locations. On Business, track and move stock among the places where a company stores items.

Low-stock alerts. On Business, set safety stock thresholds and receive notifications when quantities are running low.

Pricing and getting started

BoxHero’s current guide describes a free Personal plan for one member, 100 unique items and one location. Business includes three members, 1,000 unique items and three locations. A new account begins with a 30-day Business trial, after which confirm the plan and limits that will apply.

The guide displays Business at $30 per team per month or $288 per team per year, equivalent to $24 monthly. These displayed prices do not name a currency, so confirm billing currency and taxes before budgeting. Separate teams need separate subscriptions.

Business has displayed capacity add-ons for more members, items or locations. Check those fees against planned growth; the free Personal plan cannot increase its limits through add-ons.

The guide says Personal excludes low-stock alerts, inventory reports, multiple locations, barcode label printing and purchases/sales. If Business is canceled, access continues through the paid period, then the team moves to Personal; BoxHero says data is retained for up to one year, so plan exports before cancellation.

Look a little closer

Before you choose

Define item types and variants before importing a spreadsheet. BoxHero describes an Excel import/export path, while plan limits count unique SKUs rather than the number of physical units; a catalog with many size or color variants may exceed Personal quickly.

Decide whether one team can share item and location data or whether separate teams are necessary. BoxHero bills each team separately, so multiple isolated workspaces change the total price and administrative setup.

This profile uses current public BoxHero pages. No account, barcode scan, stock transaction, team setup, alert, trial signup or purchase was tested. Confirm plan scope and final billing terms for the selected workspace.
