ApplicantStack

What it does

ApplicantStack Recruit is an applicant tracking system for creating job postings, receiving applications and moving candidates through a hiring process. A team can use a company job board, distribute openings to outside boards, review candidate status and keep the recruiting work together. ApplicantStack also sells a separate Onboard product for new-hire steps after selection.

Who it is for

It suits a small or growing employer that needs a repeatable path from open role to selected candidate. The active-job limits make it important to count simultaneous openings, not just annual hires. A manager who only reviews candidates also needs a seat in the package limit.

Recruit is the primary product for this Recruiting listing. The separate Onboard workflow appears in a Bundle, so a buyer should decide whether job posting and candidate review are enough or whether new-hire forms and checklists are also required. The two scopes should be priced and tested separately.

The work it supports

Core capabilities

A recruiter can build a posting and publish it on a branded company job board where candidates apply. Start with one fictional role to check the form, the public job page and the way applications reach the hiring team before posting a live vacancy.

ApplicantStack describes distribution to outside job boards, including Indeed and JobTarget. Check which destinations are included in the chosen plan, whether sponsored posting adds a separate charge, and whether edits to a job propagate to each destination as expected.

Candidate management shows status and lets the team move applicants through hiring stages. Agree on what each stage means before importing live candidates, and test who can move or view a record so the pipeline stays useful to everyone involved.

The current plan comparison lists candidate scoring and questionnaires. Use a sample application to see whether screening questions collect the information the team actually needs, then review the scoring rules for relevance and fairness before using them in a real hiring decision.

Collaboration, interview management and user roles are listed among the Recruit features. Check whether interview notes and permissions match the hiring team’s responsibilities, especially where a manager should review but not edit the underlying role or candidate details.

If the team may migrate later, the vendor FAQ describes a SQL-format account-data export and a ZIP for resumes and other attachments. Request a sample export early and verify that the receiving system can use both files; an export option alone does not guarantee an easy migration.

Pricing and getting started

Starter is displayed at $29.99 per month for one active job, one admin and five hiring-manager seats. Growth is displayed at $49.99 per month for three active jobs with the same stated seat counts. The captured cards use a dollar sign without a currency code, so confirm actual currency, taxes and what counts as an active job at checkout.

Recruit is displayed at $109.99 per month with unlimited active jobs; its card says more admin and hiring-manager seats may be added. Ask what extra seats cost. The separate $159.99-per-month Bundle combines Recruit with Onboard features such as HR checklists, new-hire forms and a portal; do not assume those onboarding features are in standalone Recruit.

Candidate texting and premium texting are optional extra-fee items in the current comparison. Plan for those separately if candidate SMS is important. The FAQ describes monthly credit-card billing without a long-term contract or cancellation fee, but confirm the chosen billing and cancellation terms before signup.

The current pricing page advertises a 14-day free trial, while another current vendor trial page says 15 days and asks the visitor to attest that they are in the US or Canada. The FAQ says a trial can create unlimited jobs and users but view only the first 100 candidates. Confirm the actual trial end date, regional eligibility and visibility limit before relying on a pilot with real applicants.

Look a little closer

Before you choose

A practical evaluation can use a fictional role and sample applicants: publish a test posting, submit an application, check questionnaire and scoring behavior, move the record between stages, and ask a hiring manager to review it. Do this privately before any real recruitment campaign or candidate messaging.

Before purchase, count concurrent jobs, admins, hiring managers and expected candidates. Confirm board distribution, any sponsored posting, optional texting, export format and whether Onboard is required. Get the dollar currency and current trial terms in writing when the vendor’s public pages disagree.
