Find your fit
Who it is for
It fits a business that wants a desktop company file and needs everyday sales, purchasing and reporting in one accounting system. Pro is the single-user path; Network Edition adds simultaneous work in one office over a local network. Hosted suits teams needing full application access from a browser, with per-user pricing.
A business moving from another system should map its company files, opening balances, custom forms and needed services before switching. The setup assistant covers accounts, sales and purchases, while payroll, direct deposit, bank feeds and remote desktop access have separate enrollment or plan implications.
The work it supports
Core capabilities
Create invoices for products, services or time and track their payment status. On the purchasing side, record vendor bills, expenses, payments and recurring transactions. This gives a practical evaluation path: enter a fictional invoice and purchase, then trace their effect through the books.
Inventory tools track inventoried and non-inventoried items, kits, locations and variations. Buyers with stock to manage should test their own item structure rather than assume a simple accounting catalog covers every warehouse process.
Bank reconciliation compares the company file with a statement and identifies an out-of-balance result. A user can download a statement from the bank and import OFX, QFX, QIF, OFC or QBO for matching. Automatic bank or card feeds require a separate subscription, so manual import is the route to examine if avoiding that add-on.
AccountEdge provides balance sheet, profit-and-loss and trial-balance reports, along with report batches an accountant may request. Confirm the reporting period and account setup with an accountant before relying on a report for filings.
The Easy Setup Assistant walks through company settings, accounts and opening balances, sales, purchases and payroll setup. Use a sample company file to check the starting balances and transaction flow before importing real books.
Network Edition lets multiple workstations in the same office access one company file simultaneously through a local network. It should not be treated as a general internet-sharing plan; Hosted is the listed browser-access option.

Pricing and getting started
The current official pricing page lists Pro at USD $20 per month for a single local desktop user, Network Edition at USD $30 per month including two users, and Hosted at USD $50 per month per user through a browser. The separate enrollment page displays discounted figures for some plans, so confirm the actual billing term and offer before subscribing.
All plans include ten company files and core accounting work such as invoices, purchases, inventory, time billing and reporting. Extra company files are listed at USD $10 per file per month. Count legal entities or books needing separate files before comparing plans.
Payroll and bank feeds are optional: the pricing page lists payroll at USD $20 per month for unlimited employees and bank feeds at USD $5 per month. Payroll form filing in the US and direct deposit are distinct enrollments; do not count them as included merely because a plan card lists payroll processing.
AccountEdge Connect starts at USD $15 per month for browser-based entry that syncs to a desktop file. Hosted is different: it is the full application accessed through a browser and is priced per user. The site also advertises a 30-day free trial; check which plan and add-on rights apply to a trial.
Look a little closer
Before you choose
The desktop subscription still needs to check in online at least once every 30 days. After a seven-day grace period without confirmation, the file becomes read-only until it reconnects. Cancellation likewise leaves information and reports readable but stops new transactions. Check this against any offline or seasonal operating pattern.
Plan the backup, not only the accounting entry. The built-in Pro or Network Edition backup requires sole access to the company file, and even the all-data option excludes attached documents. Test restoration and separately preserve attachments and related files before depending on a backup schedule.
For Hosted exit, the vendor advises downloading the company file and related files to a local PC before cancellation. Company-file data can move between Mac and Windows, but simultaneous mixed-platform network use is warned against, and custom forms may need to be recreated after switching platforms. Test those steps with a copy of a fictional file first.
For a practical evaluation, create a fictional company file, enter one invoice and purchase, import a sample bank statement, reconcile it and run a profit-and-loss report. Compare Pro, Network Edition and Hosted using the actual number of users, locations, company files and separately enrolled services you need.
